How I Reduce Stress In 10 Minutes

Like many others, I’m still deeply affected by the tragic shooting in Las Vegas Sunday night, and quite frankly, many other terrible things going on in the world. When I see the faces of the 59 lost in Las Vegas, the people struggling with complete loss after natural disasters, and many other events devastating people’s lives, it affects me. Deeply. With catastrophic events of this size and magnitude, it can feel like there’s nothing I can do. But then I remind myself that I can do something.

I can indeed do something.

I can stand firm in my commitment to be the good people see in this world. To be a light that shines brightly and encourage others to do the same.

One thing I need to do to allow this to happen, is to step away sometimes. To do something to experience peace and other other positive emotions that recharge my spirit and allow me to move forward to make the differences I want to make in this world.

One way I do this is through meditation. Meditation is something often completely different than what people think it is. There are many options to practice medication, and I encourage you to find one that works for you. A tool I personally use that I wanted to share with you today, is an app called Headspace.

Headspace is a wonderful, effective tool that leads you through mediation that can have a profound effect in as little as 10 minutes. You choose your focus whether that be for reducing stress, sleeping better, or a whole host of other things Headspace has specific meditations for.

The also have a version dedicated to meditation for children called Headspace for Kids that highlights areas of Calm, Focus, Kindness, Sleep, and Waking you can check out here.

If you’ve been wanting to try meditation, or even if you have already, I encourage you to go to their website (or download the app) and try the free 10 day trial. Try at least day 1. It’s just 10 minutes. I’ve received a ton of positive feedback from people I’ve recommended this to and hope it may help you as well.

So what do you say? Got 10 minutes? Do it now. If you don’t, then bookmark this so you can come back to it when you do. In just 10 minutes a day, it can really make a difference.
